Today we are in Press, a specialty coffee shop. A company that was founded in 2013 and slowly growing into four shops in various locations in London.

We are reviewing today the third shop in the chain, which is situated in St Paul’s, between Farringdon Road and Fleet Street in a quiet magical spot hidden away from the buzz of the city.

The Shop

As soon as you enter the shop the cosy atmosphere and the wonderful smell of specialty coffee draws you deeper into Press’s coffee experience.

The super shiny Faema E71 coffee machine

The shop uses a super shiny Faema E71 coffee machine (see our review) so with this and the friendly staff you are guaranteed to have a wonderful coffee experience and extraction.

We ordered a double espresso and a cappuccino sit by the bar and observe the baristas at work.

The Coffee

We are served a washed Uganda Variety Coffee SL18/SL14, the Coffee has a deep crema which is quite significant for a washed Arabica.

Press owns a Simonelli Mythos One coffee grinder that delivers a real good grinding quality  ( see the review here)

The flavour has hints of citrus and chocolate flavours. The acidity of the espresso is well balanced with a great fruity sweetness. And exquisite floral aftertaste.

The beans are ground using a Nuova Simonelli Mythos one, standard brew ratio with 20 grammes in and 40 grammes out in 30 seconds with the water temperature at 91 degrees.

On a weekly basis, Press changes their beans origin so there’s always something new to try for espresso lovers.

The Upshot

The St Brides branch of Press is highly recommended place to try specialty coffee in a comfortable atmosphere in a hidden part of the bustling city.
