I am really proud to review one of the greatest coffee roasteries that is currently making its mark during these years since 2007.
We are talking about The Coffee Collective, a Denmark company owned by some of the highest profile persons within the Denmark coffee industry. We are reviewing Kieni, a Kenyan coffee from Nyeri region.
Kieni is a washed Kenyan coffee variety SL28/SL34: these varieties are known for their complexity, juicy body, and fruity flavors but also for their unluckily high vulnerability to coffee diseases.
These cherries grow at an altitude of 1800 meters and they are selected by hand, picking only the ripest cherries to guarantee the highest quality. After being washed, the cherries dry on raised beds maniacally under the sun overseeing the drying process.
This handcraft selection keeps the quality of the coffee really high.
When I tried this coffee to make this review, I literally had my socks knocked off: I was really impressed by the complexity of that double espresso I was tasting, especially for the strong aroma of blackberry and the sweetness of vanilla.
I have also enjoyed a lot its intense acidity! This specific Kenyan coffee has got this strong acidity due to its really light roast.
